Beautiful vistas
Scene of logging truck accident
Kootenai Falls
We were awakened this morning by two dogs clattering up the stairs and jumping on the bed. The smaller one wiggled his way between us and lay on his side with his paw on Jim  We had a great breakfast made by our warm showers host and had fun talking about dogs and life in northern Idaho.
It was a beautiful day and we saw an cow elk a few miles into the ride. She was 3/8 of a mile away across a field and looked like a strange stump until she moved.  More beautiful vistas and snowcapped mountains, and reflections in the water as we traveled along a reservoir on the Clark Fork River.
We came upon a bad accident of a logging truck and a pickup with the vehicles all twisted up and off the side of the road and logs strewn over the highway like toothpicks.  We heard that no one was killed but people had to be extricated from vehicles, which had all happened before we arrived at the scene.
We went to Kootenai Falls west of Libby; the force and volume of water was something to behold.
We're camping behind the chamber of commerce of Libby in a fairly simple campground that is part of a city park. We had supper with a couple from Ohio, one's a college professor and one's a retired middle school teacher.  They're also doing the Northern Tier but one of them is sagging and the other is pedaling.  Previously they've traveled by bike in numerous places in the US, in Europe, in Alaska, across the country several times--so many trips it make us look like beginners when it comes to biking.  Who is sitting on the front porch of the chamber of commerce for Wi-Fi and also for a plug to  power things up things up for tomorrow?
