Getting to bed late, so just location and a picture taking a look back to the mountains over fallow(brown) and non fallow field, 2nd picture from grocery in Valier, MT they make great sandwiches there and owner's great grandfather started store in 1903 as town's first pharmacist.

       After spending a few days with our son and family and getting to watch our oldest grandson run in a cross-country meet, we headed home. A few days later, Kay located the information about her stolen bike, found the serial number and called the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Police Service to give them the number, as we didn't have it with us on the trip. When an officer called back, he put the number in their database and said there wasn't a match. Since we hadn't heard anything from them while on the trip, she asked what they had found when they had reviewed the security camera video, and other details of the case. He said the officer who was handling the case was out of the office and would call back on Monday. When Jim got home from work on Monday, we discovered they had called his phone instead of Kay's, The next morning while we were both at work, they tried calling again, so Kay called them back at lunch time. July 31, 2024. St-Augustin-de-Desmaures to Deschambault-Grondines

 Leaving our Warm Showers Hosts’ House  Today it was supposed to rain so we decided to do a smaller day of 37 miles. We did have light rain on-and-off all day; if not light rain then it was cloudy and very humid. Kay had felt a weird sensation in her bicycle seat a couple times when starting out from a stop. When we stopped at a beautiful small park, we discovered that part of Kay’s lawn-chair-like seat was broken. With a combination of hose clamps, strips of a plastic bottle duct-taped together and some nails, Jim was able to make a splint (notice use of medical skill!). So far the repair has worked for 10 miles. With fenders from milk bottles & siding, and now this, Kay’s bike has a menagerie of odd parts holding it together. We got the nails from a maintenance worker for the village of Portneuf, Quebec who showed up to work on a leak in the park’s restrooms. July 10, 2024. Hooray! Bike trip possible again! God is good!

  In the midst of pouring rain from the remnants of Hurricane Beryl, we stopped at the owner’s house to see the bicycle. Not very good weather to try one out!  He had the tires all pumped up and ready for us.  Kay was relieved that the style of this recumbent was quite similar to hers as many recumbents are quite different. In the pouring rain off she went around the neighborhood, trying the brakes and shifting the gears but without any hills to try.   The next hurdle, getting the Canadian cash to pay for it.  Had a little struggle at the bank getting enough funds but once that was done we were back in business.
